Junior Designer


Applied Wayfinding is looking for a Junior Designer who is eager to work on projects where information, wayfinding and design meet. The candidate needs to be passionate about information design and have a keen attention to detail, in other words, an understanding of how to make things look good and work well! Not only is this a great opportunity to be at the global forefront of wayfinding, mapping, branding and technology, but you will be welcomed into the team at our friendly studio in Covent Garden, London.

General requirements:

  • Interest in wayfinding, information and cartographic design
  • Strong typographic skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Methodical approach to research and problem solving
  • Work to a brief within defined systems and be able to follow design guidelines
  • Able to understand the importance of your role within a wider project
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to ask questions when needed
  • Good time keeping and commitment to achieving deadlines
  • Ability to concentrate on specific tasks – process driven
  • Able to organise work through meticulous filing
  • Immediate start

Key tasks:

  • Work with the senior designers to develop different aspects of projects
  • Participate in design workshops
  • Draw and illustrate cartographic elements, diagrams and pictograms
  • Check the accuracy of information
  • Artworking

Software:

  • Illustrator CS6+
  • InDesign CS6+
  • CAD experience is a plus

Qualifications:

  • Design degree – Graphic / Information Design
