Wayfinding for a top Canadian university
Applied North America has completed a new major wayfinding project at the Vancouver campus of University of British Columbia. The project comes as part of a massive $46m realm programme at this tier one university.
Applied were appointed to prepare a campus wayfinding strategy leading to an extended appointment to design the wayfinding elements including an innovative ArcGIS mapping system to be maintained by UBC staff. Also included in the design package was a custom designed version of the Legible London ‘Citylith’ which was the first time this ‘gold standard’ in city wayfinding design was implemented outside the UK, and in an institution. Working closely with the UBC GIS and planning teams, Applied produced a design and sign specification that was entirely fabricated in Delta, British Columbia by Knight Group.
