A Guide for All Users

Applied recently worked with the Central Park Conservancy on a new printed visitor map specifically aimed at assisting users with mobility impairments. Due to the fact that the intended audience of this map is any visitor to the Park, there needed to be a careful balance to the information display. It was envisioned that the map should first and foremost highlight park facilities and allow people of all abilities to plan and enjoy their visits to the iconic landmark. In this respect, accessibility information needed to feel effortlessly integrated in with the rest of the overlay information; a vital element that neither feels overly strong or competing, but at the same time clear and visible to those that need it.
